Overview

Amazon EKS Distro (EKS-D) is a Kubernetes distribution based on and used by Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) to create reliable and secure Kubernetes clusters.

Provisioning

Customers can provision and operate EKS-D clusters that are agnostic to the type and provider of the underlying infrastructure (bare metal, VM, public cloud). Refer Overview for more information

Customers are responsible for the management of underlying hardware and the Operating System (OS) for the nodes. Refer Supported Environments for more information

Once the provided bootstrap binary (aka conjurer) is run on each node, it downloads and configures all the software required for a production grade, EKS-D Kubernetes cluster. Refer Configuration for more information.
